The Folk Review Program as part of the Week of Culture in Mogilany is filled with dance activities, workshops, and educational events.

WITH A KRAKOWIAK AT HEART - DANCE WORKSHOPS

Open dance workshops for the participants of the review and the audience. KRAKOWIAK A-B-C - basic steps for everyone.

  • Mijany with a “mietlorz” and more - dance games.
  • Workshops accompanied by the Mogilany Folk Band.

Led by choreographer Marek Harbaczewski.

COME FOR THE MUSIC - A BATTLE OF FOLK SONGS!

Fun with Krakowiaks, Polkas, and Sztajerki.

 

 

YOU’D SING IT, BUT YOU DON'T KNOW THE TUNE – an open freestyle singing competition during a dance party.

Music from MOGILANY, TRĄBKI, and BRZESKO, and the song competition will be led by Daniel Kübler.

Joanna and Jan SŁOWIŃSKI Band - CONCERT

A folk concert performed by the charismatic singer and musician, who have worked with traditional music from the beginning of their musical journey, leaving their mark with contemporary arrangements and performances.

TRADITIONAL JEWELRY OF THE VILLAGERS FROM THE SOUTH OF CRACOW - Presentation with Workshops

Presentations and stories of the spring cieszynianka and spinka krakowska (traditional jewelry). A unique type of jewelry, with a reserve in Mogilany, and one of the elements of traditional folk jewelry from the Kraków countryside. These elements are also referenced in the logo and statue of the SPINKA KRAKOWSKA. During the workshops, participants will make their own spinka and cieszynianka from Mogilany.

JANINA - LIFE PAINTED WITH A KRAKOWIAK - Exhibition

A new version of the exhibition dedicated to Janina Kalicińska - the patron of the review. A charismatic ethnochoreographer, an expert in Kraków folklore, and a wonderful person who gave her heart and life to the land of Kraków - not without reason called the "queen of the Krakowiak."

HOW WILL THEY TIE YOU UP… - Traditional Headscarf Knotting Workshops

Traditional head coverings in folk women's attire are not only decorations but also symbols of identity. During the workshops, together with the members of the Mogilany Regional Group, we will show how to properly tie a headscarf and wear a headpiece.

The workshop will be led by Urszula Budek.

TO THE CARRIAGE, HORSES TO THE CARRIAGE, COME OUT GIRL TO THE WEDDING… - Wedding Dress Display

Today, a wedding is a work of a whole team of stylists and experts, but once, a folk dress was enough – full of meanings, rules, and symbols. What did a bride look like in the village? What did she have to wear, and what was inappropriate? What did the elements of the outfit symbolize? The secrets of ancient wedding rituals will be revealed by the Mogilany women – during a demonstration of dressing the bride, accompanied by stories about traditions and customs.
